Minutes from May 11, 2010 meeting

1. Welcome and introductions

2. Secretary: minutes--Anthony Cafritz made a motion to accept the April minutes, seconded by Susan Getty, approved by all.

3. New members: we need 2 new members on the board.

4. Treasurer's report: we currently have $1724.00

5. Summer tennis: Rolland LeBlanc was introduced to those present. He is offering 45 minute tennis lessons, children ages 8-12 would be best. Instruction will be based on student need. He will be donating a tennis net to the Youth Association to be used at the school tennis court. **The proposed schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, July 7 6-6:45 PM 10-11 yrs old
Wednesday, July 7 7-7:45 PM 11-12 yrs old
Saturday, July 31 10-10:45 AM 8-9 yrs old
Saturday, July 31 11-11:45 AM 9-10 yrs old
There will be no minimum, but there will a maximum of 6. Others will go on a waiting list.

6. Town-wide cleanup and school showcase: Clean-up Day was poorly attended by the youth; in the future we should make contact with Vicki Perkins and/or Colleen Fish.
Willie Linendoll has taken down the Earth Day showcase and will be replacing it with a sports display.

7. Summer programs: volunteers are needed for Lake Lauderdale and Lunch, Learn & Play (contact Kim Gariepy or Courthouse).

8. Nature activities: Keith Kelley is working on this with the Presbyterian Church in Salem.

9. Harvest Fest: Anthony Cafritz spoke about Harvest Fest on behalf of the Chamber. This will be the third year for Harvest Fest. Planned date is Saturday, Sept. 11th. Money raised is used to help local people affected by catastrophes. Activities will begin at 10 AM. Ideas are needed for activities for youth. Chamber would like Youth Association to take this on.

10. Town-wide yard sale: Saturday, May 29th Youth Association will be renting spaces on the Courthouse grounds.

11. SAW outdoor film program: they are still offering materials needed to have outdoor movies/films this summer (contact Anthony Cafritz at SAW).

12. Logo: accepted as is (S.A.Y.A.)

13. New business: fund-raising ideas--fashion show using clothes from The Shoppe.

14. Comments: Remi spoke with his class and they had no new ideas, but they did enjoy skiing and snowboarding.

15. Other: 5/21 at Proudfit Hall information and registration for Foot on the Grass (Bri Thibeau's summer soccer camp); future meetings will begin with students reporting on anything new.
